In the last fifteen years, the Minnesota Legislature has enacted several major changes to Minnesota's adoption laws. New procedures have been established recognizing birth father's rights through the Minnesota Father's Adoption Registry. Independent adoptions now require compliance with a specific set of procedures.

These major changes have add a layer of complexity to already existing laws concerning notice and consent requirements, the rights of presumed fathers vs. non-presumed fathers, adoption study requirements, and myriad other adoption and foster care legal matters.

At Vincent Law Offices, we only handle adoption and foster care matters. Just as we know better than to handle, say, a business, tax or criminal law matter, we advise our legal colleagues to not handle adoption matters with which they are not familiar. The risk of a malpractice claim is real.

Judith Vincent welcomes telephone calls from attorneys who are seeking an adoption attorney for their own clients. As you would expect, we are fully insured. If you are an attorney, please call us at 612-332-7772 and we would be happy to speak with you.
